Echoes of Orgreave
Echoes of Orgreave is a photographic journey into the heart of the Battle of Orgreave, commemorating its 40th anniversary and the profound impact it has had on those who lived through the 1984-85 miners’ strike in the UK. This project gives voice to the individuals and communities shaped by this pivotal moment, exploring themes of resilience, memory, and the long shadow cast by this historic struggle. Presented as a series of triptychs, each piece weaves together a narrative through: • Portraits that reveal the enduring spirit and experiences of those connected to Orgreave. • Significant Locations that anchor their stories in the physical spaces that have witnessed both conflict and community. • Personal Artifacts that serve as symbols of identity, resistance, and the ongoing quest for justice. Echoes of Orgreave not only documents a crucial chapter in the history of labor rights but also reflects on the lasting echoes of social injustice and collective memory. This project aims to bridge the past with the present, fostering a deeper understanding of the emotional and cultural legacy of Orgreave.
